Iran's Top 20 Attacks On The West
From Carter to Obama and Biden
Since the Iran Hostage Crisis of 1979 — when Democrat President Jimmy Carter capitulated to terrorism — no one has possessed the cojones to challenge Iran’s Islamic Death Cultists. Until now.
Let’s review what Iran — the most malevolent actor in the Middle East — has done since that day.
1. Iran Hostage Crisis (Nov. 4, 1979 – Jan. 20, 1981)
Iranian revolutionary students, backed by Ayatollah Khomeini’s new Islamic government, seized the U.S. Embassy in Tehran and took 66 Americans hostage (52 were held for all 444 days). The hostages faced mock executions, beatings, and psychological abuse. Iran demanded the return of the former Shah. A U.S. rescue attempt failed and killed eight Americans. The crisis ended with the Algiers Accords on Ronald Reagan’s inauguration day. The U.S. cut diplomatic ties with Iran, which remain broken today.
2. U.S. Embassy Bombing, Beirut (April 18, 1983)
A suicide truck bomb hit the U.S. Embassy in Beirut, killing 63 people, including 17 Americans. The attacker was linked to an Iran‑backed group that later became Hezbollah. U.S. intelligence found that Iran’s Revolutionary Guard (IRGC) helped plan and support the attack.
3. Beirut Marine Barracks Bombing (Oct. 23, 1983)
A Hezbollah suicide bomber drove a truck filled with explosives into a U.S. Marine barracks, killing 241 U.S. service members. A similar attack minutes later killed 58 French soldiers. U.S. intelligence linked both attacks to Iran. The bombings led to the withdrawal of U.S. and French forces from Lebanon.
4. Kuwait Embassy Bombings (Dec. 12, 1983)
Coordinated bombings hit the U.S. and French embassies and other targets in Kuwait. At least five people were killed. The attackers were linked to Iranian‑backed groups, and investigations found Iranian support.
5. U.S. Embassy Annex Bombing, Beirut (Sept. 20, 1984)
A truck bomb killed 24 people, including two Americans, at a U.S. Embassy annex in Beirut. Hezbollah claimed responsibility. U.S. officials said Iran supported the attack.
6. Kidnapping and Murder of CIA Chief William Buckley (1984–1985)
Hezbollah kidnapped CIA station chief William Buckley in Beirut. He was tortured and later killed. U.S. investigations found Iranian backing.
7. Kuwait Airways Flight 221 Hijacking (Dec. 1984)
Hezbollah hijacked a Kuwaiti airliner and killed two American passengers. The plane landed in Tehran, and Iran did not arrest the hijackers.
8. TWA Flight 847 Hijacking (June 1985)
Hezbollah hijackers held 39 Americans hostage for 17 days and murdered U.S. Navy diver Robert Stethem. U.S. courts blamed Hezbollah with Iranian support.
9. Israeli Embassy Bombing, Argentina (March 17, 1992)
A car bomb destroyed the Israeli Embassy in Buenos Aires, killing 29 people and injuring over 200. Investigations found Hezbollah carried out the attack with Iranian support.
10. AMIA Jewish Center Bombing, Argentina (July 18, 1994)
A van bomb killed 85 people at a Jewish community center in Buenos Aires. Argentine prosecutors accused senior Iranian officials of directing the attack through Hezbollah.
11. Khobar Towers Bombing, Saudi Arabia (June 25, 1996)
A truck bomb destroyed part of a U.S. Air Force housing complex, killing 19 American airmen and injuring hundreds. A U.S. court ruled Iran was responsible.
12. Iranian‑Backed Bombings in Iraq (2003–2011)
Iran’s Quds Force armed and trained Shiite militias in Iraq. Advanced roadside bombs they supplied killed at least 603 U.S. troops.
13. Karbala Attack, Iraq (Jan. 20, 2007)
Gunmen linked to Iran’s Quds Force attacked a U.S. facility in Karbala, killing five American soldiers.
14. Plot to Kill Saudi Ambassador in Washington, D.C. (2011)
U.S. officials uncovered a plot by Iran’s Quds Force to assassinate the Saudi ambassador at a restaurant in Washington, D.C. The bombing could have killed many Americans.
15. Burgas Bus Bombing, Bulgaria (July 18, 2012)
A bomb killed six people, including five Israeli tourists. Investigators said Hezbollah carried it out with Iranian support.
16. Iranian Missile Strike on U.S. Base, Iraq (Jan. 8, 2020)
Iran fired ballistic missiles at U.S. forces in Iraq after the U.S. killed Iranian commander Qasem Soleimani. Over 100 U.S. troops suffered brain injuries.
17. Drone Attack in Jordan (Jan. 28, 2024)
An Iran‑backed militia drone strike killed three U.S. soldiers in Jordan and wounded over 40 others. U.S. officials blamed Iran for supporting the group.
18. Hamas Attack on Israel (Oct. 7, 2023)
Hamas, which receives funding and weapons from Iran, killed about 1,200 people in Israel, including at least 48 Americans, and took hostages. U.S. and Israeli officials said Iran helped support Hamas.
19. Paris Bombings (December 1985 – September 1986)
Iran helped a Hezbollah terror cell carry out a string of bombings across Paris and other French cities. Bombs exploded in department stores, a train, a metro station, and other busy public spots. These attacks killed 20 people and hurt more than 250 others — most of them everyday French citizens and tourists. The goal was to scare France into stopping its support for Iraq in the Iran-Iraq War
20. Sustained Iran-Backed Proxy Campaign Against U.S. Forces in Iraq and Syria (October 2023–2025)
Since the October 7 Hamas attack, Iran-backed militias (Kata’ib Hezbollah, Harakat al-Nujaba, etc.) have conducted over 180 documented drone, rocket, and missile attacks on U.S. bases in Iraq and Syria, killing additional U.S. personnel and wounding more than 180 others. U.S. Central Command and the White House have repeatedly stated that Iran provides the weapons, funding, and operational guidance for this campaign.
You may not think we’ve been engaged in a multi-decade war with Iran, but they thought otherwise.

Just trying to imagine the world, particularly the ME, without the existence of the worlds most prolific and evil sponsor of terror and evil, responsible for decades and decades of horrific death and devastation and destruction around the world. The entire world will be a completely different place, hopefully a much better, more peaceful and freer place. Really something to contemplate in its magnitudinal effects.
Thank you, this is great information and very well presented!
